Constrained recovery applications of Fe-(Mn, Ni)-Si-based shape memory alloys, with controlled properties by nanostructural changes at the level of martensite and austenitic matrix

Sergiu STANCIU

a) Previous experience in the field of the proposed theme

PhD thesis Research on the influence of some metallurgical factors upon the properties of some copper base shape memory alloys. He is coauthor, together with the project director, to 3 monographs and 1 patent. He published 43 scientific papers, regarding shape memory alloys, among which 11 as main author. . He has been a member of the research team within the multiannual grants of the project director, during 2004-2005 and 2006-2007.

b) Expertise fields and significant results

Expert in the elaboration of shape memory alloys, and in the selection processing and analyzing of optical micrographs. He has been the director of a CNCSU (former abbreviation of CNCSIS) grant of AT type, finalized by the development of a technology for the obtainment of Ti-Ni-Cu shape memory alloys and by setting the bases for the obtainment of shape memory biocompatible elements. He collaborated to the contracts no. 6002/1996 and 7002/1997, entitled Research regarding the technologies for obtaining some new materials, copper based shape memory alloys , on which occasion he perfected the elaboration technology of shape memory alloys belonging to the systems Cu-Al-Ni and Cu-Zn-Al, as well as centrifugal casting, into fusible moulds, of complex parts (of helical spring-type).
